When Jason began lessons in early 2024, fear overshadowed everything. He was so nervous that he hid under the table and declared he would “never” like music.
At first glance, it might have seemed like music wasn’t for him. But behind the tears, there was a spark of curiosity. That spark was enough.
Instead of forcing a traditional lesson, Jason’s instructor shifted gears. They played short musical flashcard games in five-minute bursts, keeping things light, approachable, and pressure-free. Each week, Jason grew a little braver.
By the end of two months, his progress spoke for itself. He played his first full song with a wide grin, proud of what he had accomplished. This past summer, Jason stood on stage and performed Ode to Joy, the same child who once hid under a table saying he’d never enjoy music. It was a full-circle moment.
Jason’s mother later shared, “We almost quit that first week… now Jason asks to play for his friends every evening.”
